Runnning Lightroom Catalogue on many machines? How about running the same Lightroom Catalogue on many machines? Is that possible?
As you may be aware, you cannot run a Lightroom Catalogue on a networked drive.
You can run a Lightroom Catalogue on your computer and keep the images on a network drive
- you can keep images anywhere you want and just point Lightroom to the images folder, I keep all the images on an external hard drive so I can move around with a hard drive – I use a small portable hard drive for that).
However, this may pose some troubles as you move between different computers, because you can – you can. As you know, you can work with one Catalogue on many computers, you can import images into a Catalogue as well as you can import one Catalogue into another Catalogue.
How do you work on a network then? Well, you can use one of the “Cloud” services for hosting your images. If your “Cloud” creates a folder on your computer that mirrors the content on the “Cloud”, then you could import images into the Cloud and then just point Lightroom Catalogue to the folder on your computer that is a mirror of your Cloud folder! That’s something I have learnt from Gene McCullagh from Lightroom Secrets. Thank you, Gene!
Enjoy! 😉
