Canon made an interesting move in updating firmware for Canon EOS 7D. The new update for firmware will see some major improvements in what EOS 7D will be capable of. When developing the new firmware Canon followed a similar approach to the approach they used when creating EOS 7D, gaining direct user feedback to bring the EOS 7D up to date with enhanced performance and a greater range of shooting capabilities and creative functionality.

It’s an interesting move because EOS 7D has been on a market for almost three years now, I know I have had it for almost two and a half years now.

Here are some improvements that will appear in the firmware update for EOS 7D:

• Increase of continuous shooting buffer from 15 to 25 Raw files,
• Auto ISO that can be customised,
• Control of audio recording when recording video,
• Re-processing Raw files in camera,
• Ability to rate images in camera,
• Ability to process Raw files and correct artefacts such as peripheral illumination, distortion and chromatic aberration,
• JPEGs can be instantly resized, without the need for a computer.

We may expect the new firmware in August 2012.
